Cerebellar Degeneration in Epilepsy: A Systematic Review

Introduction: Cerebellar degeneration has been associated in patients with epilepsy, though the exact pathogenic mechanisms are not understood. The aim of this systematic review was to identify prevalence cerebellar epilepsy and any mechanisms. Methodology: A computer-based literature search conducted using PubMed database. Data extracted included prevalence, clinical, neuroradiological, neuropathological characteristics degeneration. Results: We identified three consistent predictors context our review: temporal lobe poor seizure control, phenytoin as treatment modality. Whole brain hippocampal atrophy were also epilepsy. Conclusions: is prevalent Further prospective studies required confirm if indeed linked establish that result insult.
